Macallan 18 Year Double Cask
Distillery: The Macallan, Speyside, Scotland
Age: 18 years
Proof: 86
Nose: There are notes of dry oak and wood shavings, hints of crème de cacao, crème anglaise and marmalade. Also, notes of apple blossom and cut flowers.
Palate: Luxurious and smooth, showcasing flavors of toffee, sherry-soaked raisins, and warm spices, with a delicate balance of sweetness and woodiness
Color: Dark amber
Notes: Hot on the heels of the 1992 and earlier 'vintage', which only turned up in May 2011, here's the 1993-and-earlier Macallan 18 year old. This benchmark Macallan has been fully matured in ex-sherry casks and remains one of the most highly-regarded after-dinner drams thanks to its slick, sweet smoothness.
